Electric snowmobiles are a concept that has never come to fruition, but that may be changing and Ski-Doo is leading the charge. Parent company BRP says that each of its product lines (including Ski-Doo) will have an electric vehicle by 2026.
And BRP is putting its money where its mouth is by investing $300 million over the next five years into electric vehicles. We should see the first electric product within the next two years, with the others rolling out by 2026.

While a new engine usually dominates the news, Ski-Doo also came to market with the industry’s first ever semi-active snowmobile suspension system called Smart-Shox. This system controls both compression and rebound shock damping and “reads inputs from five different chassis sensors every millisecond, along with engine parameters and vehicle speed to adjust damping as needed based on the rider’s choice of three available on-the-fly settings,” Ski-Doo says in a release. “Shock adjustments are a thing of the past as automatic control of chassis roll, landings, anti-bottoming, anti-dive and launch attitude just got real.”
2022 SKI-DOO MODEL HIGHLIGHTS
The Summit is Ski-Doo’s deep powder family of mountain snowmobiles and there are some significant changes for the 2022 model year. Here are the highlights:
- New Summit Edge in-season model with short tunnel
- Summit X with Expert Package narrower ski stance
- Summit X with Expert Package reservoir protector
- One-piece lightweight hood and lightweight springs on all Summit X models
- LinQ mounts standard on tunnel (2 pair)
- New color options
Four different Summit packages are offered for 2022, all built on the REV Gen4 platform: Summit X Expert (spring only), Summit X (spring only), Summit Edge, and Summit SP.
